Kherson deputy Semenchev Sr. sentenced for 10 years

Ihor Semenchev Sr. was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment and a ban on holding positions in state and local self-government bodies for 15 years with confiscation of all property belonging to the state.


This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. The trial was conducted in the form of a special trial: in the absence of Semenchev, because he is in the occupied territory of the Kherson region.


In support of the public indictment by the prosecutors of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv and the Malinov District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa, the court announced a guilty verdict against the deputy of the Kherson City Council on charges of collaborative activity (part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).


Prosecutors proved that Semenchev Sr., under martial law, accepted the offer of cooperation from representatives of the Russian Armed Forces and was proclaimed deputy head of the occupation military-civilian administration of the city of Kherson.


While in the specified "position", Semenchev performed organizational and administrative and economic functions in illegal authorities created on the temporarily occupied territory in the occupation center of the city of Kherson, i.e. he carried out illegal activities related to the performance of organizational and administrative functions.


According to the totality of the evidence of the prosecution, by the verdict of the Malinovsky District Court of Odesa, Semenchev was found guilty of high treason and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold positions in state authorities and local self-government for 15 years, with the confiscation of all property belonging to the state.
