She was born on April 3, 1967 in Askania-Nova, Kherson Oblast. Ruzhena Rublyova graduated from the Kherson School of Music with the specialty "choirmaster". Later she taught music. Since 1999, Rublyova worked as an artist-vocalist of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish. In 2021, by decree of the President of Ukraine, Rublyova was awarded the title of "People's Artist of Ukraine". She was also the head of the primary trade union organization of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulisha. In 2022, the investigation established that Rublyova took part in a rally-concert in Moscow, dedicated to the occupation of part of Ukraine, accompanied by the choir of the Russian National Guard. Rublyova glorified and justified the actions of the Russian Federation. In the same year, she switched to the side of the Russian Federation. Rublyova was appointed director of two music schools in occupied Kherson. In 2023, Ruzhena Rublyova was accused of collaborating. In 2024, the court found Ruzhena Rublyova guilty of collaboration in absentia. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to hold positions in the field of culture for a period of 12 years and confiscation of property. The investigation established that she performed accompanied by the "Choir of the National Guard of the Russian Federation" during a concert dedicated to the "incorporation of new territories into the Russian Federation."

Russians called her an activist: an occupation policewoman died in Holaya Prystan

In the occupied Hola Prystan, in the Skadovsk district of the Kherson region, several occupation police officers were killed on February 28, 2026. Among them was Veronika Velmamedova, whom the Russians presented as an activist and teacher. However, Ukrainian military officer, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and blogger Anatoliy "Stirlitz" Stefan found a photo of Velmamedova, which indicates that she was one of the occupation police officers.

The Russian occupation of Kherson left behind more than just a destroyed infrastructure and a looted city.

It left behind places where people were systematically broken. One of these was a torture chamber in the city center.

Russian military deliberately attacks civilians in Kherson region, says UN report

The independent international commission of inquiry into violations in Ukraine under the UN Human Rights Council has published a report. It documents systematic attacks by Russian drones on civilians in the Kherson region. It also records strikes on ambulances and critical infrastructure. The Russian military is publicly distributing videos of such attacks and messages with explicit threats to civilians for moving in areas called «red zones».
